I suspect there must be other threads from people who have migrated from aol and had any remaining balance in their account retained by them as they will not pay it back.
As aol subscribers are aware, you pay in advance for your monthly broadband, however, I migrated to sky which left a balance in my aol accound of just under £2.00 - so ok - not much I admit.
I emailed them and asked if this money will be refunded and the reply informed me that 'they are unable to refund my money'.
I also left bt at the same time and I also had an outstanding balance of just over 3 quid which they refunded by means of a cheque after a couple of weeks.
Now if aol steal from everyone who migrates to another broadband provider, that will make a tidy sum from the theft.
There is no reason whatsoever why aol, cannot refund the money by the same means that they obtained it - by direct debit.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Edit: Definition of theft: "A person is guilty of theft, if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it".
