relationship breakdown, what help is out there please?

Morning peeps, i'm not sure where to start, but i'm looking for some help and was hoping i could at least be pointed in the right direction.

About 4 months ago my partner walked out on me and the our little girl who is 2 years old, I only work part time and i'm am claiming tax credits and working tax credits since he left, this doesn't go far when you have to pay £650 mortgage and almost £400 in child care a month, then i have all the other house hold bills on top as well as the £30k of debt he ran up in my name before !!!!!!ing off.

I've never wanted to just claim benefits, but i'm begining to think for a while i may be better off doing this, so does anyone know where i would stand if i was to pack in my job, i've been off sick with stress and anxity (after i was threated with my job for taking a day off when my daughter had sickness and other nasty things) I would move back into a rented room with my family, but would they be expected to keep me or would i get help with the rent, as they can't afford to keep me? what would the situation be if i then rented out my jointly owned house, selling isn't an option as it is in negative equity at the moment, and once i'm back on my feet i would plan on moving back into the house.

I would like to go back to uni and qualify as a teacher, at least then i would have a decent job, rather than earning £9k a year and struggling to make ends meet with debt letters coming through the door thick and fast.

has anyone else been through similar and how did you cope financially (and mentally, as i can't cope going on like this much longer).

sorry to whinge on, but it's got to a point where all i do is cry, i can't sleep and i hardly eat as i can't keep it down, this is no good for me and no good for my little girl, so it is time to make some big decisions and sort out the mess i'm in.

thank you
me x
