I have just got a le creuset griddle like you describe but its enammelled so doesn't need seasoning - absolutely love it and use it all the time - I can see myslef eventually just leaving it out on the hob rather than putting it away and hauling it out all the timePeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Dunelm have some super le crueset look alikes at the moment for less than £30. I've got one and have been very impressed.0

Just a quick update - no dunelm nearby for me so I went into town to look at le creuset casseroles and tbh didn't feel that heavy! No heavier than some of the pans that were displayed - circulon and anolon. So went home and got a warehouse deal - round one from amazon. Arrived today and looks fab - perfect to my eye and will be testing it out next week when have a minute to myself!
Thanks for all your help!

I adore Le Creuset and just leave mine permanently on the hob,the casserole dishes that is.
I also love all the earthenware and I find the best time to buy these is when they first bring out a new dish as they always come in a sleeve with a third or more off as standard.
I got a lovely pie dish with a beaded edge yesterday for £12 instead of £18 the price after the introductory offer. You also get a little leaflet (inside the package) which you post off and get a free Le Creuset bird pie funnel in the Le Creuset colour of your choice worth £5.
So good buy if you save the earthenware too.
All the major department stores do these introductory offers.0 -

Le Creuset IS the best for casserole pots & oven dishes.
But a recent test carried out (by Which I think) found Lakeland griddle pans better than Le Creuset.0 -

I have LC pans etc, bought over several summer hols in La Belle France years ago.
The casseroles are used frequently, the frying pan and skillet a little less and the saucepans almost never.
My gripe with the saucepans (as well as the weight) is the gap that the lip leaves when the lid is on. I like the lids to seal the steam into pans. They look pretty in the kitchen though! :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

For a minute there I thought I'd been 'sleep-posting' recently and been contributing to these forums afterall.
I have the same opinion of Denby (has to be plain white though) and Le Crueset (Cerise).
So far I have, of the Le Creuset range; mortar & pestle, 4 ramikens, 4 bean pots, a pot stand and oven gloves - the bean pots and 2 of the ramikens are on their way from Amazon, so I don't really have those yet, hopefully this week.
Denby: nothing so far.
Ahh well, every collection has to start somewhere. :rotfl:
My Mum & Dad bought me the mortar & pestle and the 2 ramikens (only expected the M&P) as my birthday present (along with my other love - pyjamas) and thought I was "off ma heid" for asking for kitchen stuff as a present. lol0 -

I have an old Denby coffee pot which was my Grannies that I was given by my Uncle 18 months ago. I think she'd be chuffed to know it is in use by a grandchild because sadly, she never lived to meet any of us. So it's been sitting in a cupboard for 33 years waiting for me
I love the designs of the Emma Bridgewater stuff but the beauty of Denby is that the whole range is oven/ DW/ freezer and microwave proof. That's gotta be a good selling point surely?
I will try to get my collection started this year for Christmas and birthday!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0
