Help, please? Netgear DG834G problem.

I’d appreciate the help of anyone on this form who can assist me in fixing my wireless network that was working fine until I switched to Virgin broadband.

I have been using a Netgear DG834G wireless modem router and all was working fine ‘tll a few weeks ago when (coincidentally??) I moved to Virgin Broadband after the implosion of E7even.

Now – I can get on to Virgin Broadband (VB) fine with my lappy, connected via the wired VB modem. So I can actually get in t’internet.

The problem lies with my desktop. I have tried wiring the Netgear router (rather than using the wireless facility) up to it and resetting it to manufacturer’s setting as per the Netgear manual. I can get all the router lights to do as they should do. When I put my VB logon & password in to the router set-up, the Netgear GUI tells me I have an internet connection okay. All well and good ‘till I try to access a webpage. When I try to access a webpage, I get the usual ‘accessing site’ message from Firefox – and then it just hangs/stops. Even though the Netgear admin page shows me connected.

When I use the laptop, wired & set up for VB with their router, I can access the internet fine.

I’ve no idea how to sort the Netgear problem. Anyone have any ideas?

PS. there was no need to reset the router, all you had to do was to put in the VB id and password.

I did that originally & it didn't work. I'll go and read those other threads, now!! Thanks for your time & trouble.;)
