I can't stop my Laptop PC from "beeping"... e.g. when I remove or insert the power cord it "beeps" at me ( I HATE it
)
I have edited the Registry (Current User/Control Panel/Sound set to "no") but it still does it.
HELP! (please)

Have you tried Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds Tab? Under this there is a drop down menu which includes "No Sounds" - Select and apply.
Works for me.0 -
Is it a beep from the laptops speakers (i.e. where you hear music from if you play a CD) or does it sound like it's coming from the system speaker inside?
If it is the system speaker beeping try this:
Right-click My Computer and choose Manage.
When the Computer Management window opens, click Device Manager.
Now, choose View, Show Hidden Devices.
In the right pane of the window, double- click Non-Plug and Play Drivers. Next, right-click Beep and choose Properties.
When the Beep Properties dialog box opens, click the arrow at the right side of the Device Usage list box and choose "Do not use this device (disable)." Click OK, and then restart the computer when prompted.
After the restart, you shouldn't hear the beep again.0 -
Thanks for the feedback folks.
Ian... I think yours relates to the system sound card but tx anyway.
cw... I did this. I have now edited the register (as above) AND done what you suggested (and rebooted etc) but STILL the darned thing beeps at me if I dis/reconnect power or close the lid etc!

it would be controlled in the CMOS settings or by an applet for the laptop from the manufacturer. I've never looked into getting my Thinkpads to not do this, for example, but it's not an OS-driven event. In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?0

Screwdriver and wire cutters?
Have you tried the laptop manufacturer's website - maybe they have a patch or bios update that kills the beep?0
