Good morning everyone,
Hope I'm posting in the right place. I am technologically challenged and I am looking to buy a camcorder. Never done it before.
It needs to be able to record sound at a good quality as well as a good picture obviously. I need to use it for my DS who has just gone into Performing Arts College studying Musical Theatre so that he can critique himself and review it. I'm hoping this is an example where technology and the arts can compliment each other. It does have to be around £200-£300/350 and something that won't become immediately superceded because I won't be able to afford another. Record onto a DVD? It also has to be idiot-proof!

hi hun

was just bout off to bed and seen this

ok im pretty technical with camera, etc...

i have a panasonic, NV-GS15, it has 24x optical zoom. a flip out screen, lots of connections to edit, and a good menu settings, also has a build in light.

hang on will see if i can find a link.

, i got mine for £300. btw.

so thats the one i have its done for 2 years soo far, good little thing, if thats all you need. it can also take still images like a digital camera and also is very simple and easy to use.

sony are also a good make, and very good too.

i will try and research more for you when i get a chance, but im sure someone will find out some more things.

the main thing is to find the one which is right for him

Tiff, not sure I am the one to be answering you, as found myself looking for camcorder earlier this year for OH. I did eventually get one for OH and he is really pleased with it, but it no way can I advise you one way or the other about models, types etc....a techie will be along to advise you shortly.

ok so how is the camera hunt going?
i have some other info on cameras if you need, but to get it of the internet can take up to 24 days, so try and do it soon if you need it soon.

it has alot of camcorders and all sorts i have found the page for mini dv camcorders as i imagined that is what he would want, as that is the ideal thing for college.

Tiff, following on on links from rose07, I can recommend cameras2u, camcorder delivered next day, I was really impressed with their service and would use again (have nothing to do with them whatsoever). Also if you go through www.quidco.com you get 2% cashback.
