hello, i just wanted to post to say thank you to you all:D
this is only my 2nd post but i have been *lurking* on mse for a while and the difference it has made to mine and my familys life has been amazing:j
my oh and i have been in debt all the time we've been together, and we just kept making a bad situation worse:o but we have managed to pay a lot of our debt off recently (we have about £2000 to go) and a lot of it is thanks to you guys
my oh is self-employed and recently has been on a really good job with lots of extra cash (which has sadly finished now:p ) and we've used this to try and get debt free, the thing is though that had i not seen this sight we would have just wasted that money away (when i think of all the money we've wasted over the years.... i wish id known then what i know now!) as soon as i started reading the dfw page i wanted to be debt free and i became determined to do it!
i think the most useful thing ive learned is that (to coin a phrase from mr tesco!) 'every little helps' we used to just think oh we've got £50 we might as well spend it cos that wont make a dent in our debts but now i know better:cool:
oh and the joy i get from finding £2 coins to go in my jar is quite worrying:rotfl:
so thank you all so much, i wish you all the luck in the world becoming df:beer:

I paid off 1/3 of my debt in the 9 months I was lurking on this site, thanks to all the motivation and tips I got from here.
It is much more fun to join in than to lurk, though, isn't it?Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I'm not in debt, so I hope it's OK to post this, but I use this site as a warning to me not to become complacent. It's so easy to think you're OK and then something unexpected happens - like a big bill or redundancy for example - and suddenly you're in trouble.
Whenever I feel like spending on something stupid I come over here and have a read and it slows me down!0 -
Of course it's all right. When I am debt free I would like to still come here to keep me on the straight and narrow. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
