Switching Courses

At the moment I am 'taking time out' from an English degree due to mitigating circumstances, which are now under control, though I haven't yet returned to the course as I decided I'd chosen the wrong course. Bascially when I began an access course a few years ago, I initially wanted to do Nursing but was (perhaps unduly) worried about not being able to find a job. Now I relaise I should have just gone ahead and done what I wanted to do.
My question is regarding switching courses at the same uni. I've tried getting in contact with the admissions tutor for the course I want to do but have had no reply via email and they're never available when I call. I will try again tomorrow, but I wanted to ask here in case anyone has experience of this... could I actually switch courses if I made my application to the department or will I have to go through UCAS again? I am still considered a student in some capacity at this same uni.
Thanks.

Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.

It depends on the policies of the department/university but the people I know who've changed courses once they're at university have applied directly to the department.
As you suspended your studies due to extenuating circumstances you may need to prove to the university that you are ready to return.
Are you looking to start the nursing course in 201/12?0 -
Because of the additional requirements for a nursing degree it'll be more complicated to change to this (although probably possible) than it would be to change to, say, History.
Could you make an appointment with the Admissions Tutor to discuss this?0 -

I mentioned to my head of program last year that I wanted to change courses, and got told to apply to the department.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Like OlderNotWiser said it will be more complicated because of the pre-screening (Occupation health etc) that you are required to pass rather than just assessing you on your academic qualifications. You will need to talk to the admissions people directly and see if they have a Feb/March intake.Current debt: M&S £0(£2K) , Tesco £0 (£1.5K), Car loan 6K (paid off!)
