New job- No Pay for 3 weeks- Need Best Credit Card recommendations

I've just started a new job at the NHS. I am currently only temporary contracted with an agency whilst all information is being processed; references, ID etc.

Unfortunately not all my references have come through in time for the monthly payroll shut off date. The plan is i will get paid from the agency up until the first week of November, i will get paid my week in hand that i worked for the agency in the first week of November but will get no money till the next pay date. So i will have no funds from the 8th- 30th November. I have worked out i can survive on £600 at a bare minimum for those 3 weeks.

I figured getting a £1000 max credit card would be the best solution (i think!). I was wondering what the best deals on credit cards there are for someone on a annual wage of 14k. i have a good credit rating. I have one other tesco credit card (0% for first 12months), which i have paid off regularly up until 3 weeks ago with starting the new job.

I was wondering if there are any other credit cards available to me for 0% on the first 12-16 months? I should be able to pay the debt off in this time

Cheers

Adam

To get credit cards all lies on your credit history and personal circumstances.

You don't qualify already for, main problem being reliable regular income (you are in job for too short of a time).

Credit cards are not given just to anyone. Read up on some of Martin's articles about credit cards.

Apply for a subprime credit card such as AQUA,Capital One and Vanquis however the credit limits are small.

Another reason why building up a contingency savings fund (3-6 months net pay) should be the first priority in every worker's financial planning.

OP, can you get an overdraft?

Paris- do you know if the limits would suit my needs? i.e. would they stretch as far as £600? Thanks

Well yes it would be ideal, but in a normal world people have bills to pay and as sad as it is, building up something which will help in the long term isn't always going to benefit you in the present short term.

Opinions4u- i do have an overdraft of £250 on a platinum lloyds card. I haven't delved into yet. I don't like to unless its really urgent. Do you think if i spoke to my bank they might extend the overdraft?
