I'm in the process of completely overhauling my old blog – MyOriginalBlog – the blog is been trimmed a number of the posts/articles etc are for the bin. The template/design is been radically changed. Categories have been added, others dropped. A number of the promotions that were there are also going. In effect it will look and feel like a new blog.
I have set up my new outlay etc on a test site -MyTestBlog – and got everything working as I want it to work. The posts, articles, images, categories, ads etc are all there ready to post. So I'm now wondering what is the most effective way to transfer what is on MyTestBlog to MyOriginalBlog
I'm wondering if this would work:
Would that keep the structure, design and content? If it did I appreciate I'd have to go in and check links manually, just to be sure.
Any advice appreciated.

I'm wondering if this would work:
- a. completely delete the Database in MyOriginalBlog and all files associated with it. Everything gone!
- b. edited the config.php file in MyTestBlog to show the details of MyOriginalBlog
- c. in MyTestBlog alter Wordpress General Settings to show the WordPress Address (url) and site address (url) of MyOriginalBlog

My experience with Wordpress is on my own hosted server at home, not using the Wordpress hosting service but I'm sure the same will apply to both. If you delete your database, you will remove all the content from your site. Posts, categories, etc.
The easiest way to take the content from your test blog to your old blog is to backup your databases (both the test blog and old blog). Keep both backups in case things go wrong. You can then remove the old database and import the backup of your test blog. That should import all of the content you have. As for uploads, images and your site theme, they would have to be backed up via FTP. Copy all of the folder contents and keep both copies with your database backups.
I've never seen how the Wordpress hosting service works. I'm guessing there is an option to export and import databases. You should be able to find detailed information on the Wordpress website. I hope this is of some help.0
