C'mon now folks, there's no need to call someone greedy, we don't know other peoples circumstances.

Well said Doc and Leosmummy, I totally agree with you both! People's complete and utter greed with these sorts of bargains never fails to amaze me:(. Instead of moaning, why can't the OP simply be pleased that they got not just one, but FIVE whole items? This then provides the opportunity for another (and hopefully not so greedy) person to take part and enjoy the bargain too.

This quite harsh as the OP may have been buying for others or for a big family-I dont see the op as a mince speculator;if the shop offer a cheaper deal it should be backed by extra stocks. These deals are not to benefit the shopper but often induce extra foot traffic and induce more spending on discretionary and impulse purchases.Lidl must take some responsibility and emphasise the limits in their marketing.

  • they can restrict it to what they want, and they dont need to give prior notice, but based on the fast they didnt i would kick up a storm. I regularly buy stuff in bulk (500 cans of coke, or 300 bottles of water, or 400 crisps)

Someone could have made the trip specially (and the same could be said i suppose for the person who turns up after i have cleared them out) but then i guess they should have phoned ahead, or gotten there sooner.

The staff in my Lidl are very good when there has been offers on before ie (red mountain coffee for 25p jar with voucher) my nice checkout person just let me put them through as seperate transactions so got 6, there was about 100 jars so did not feel bad, just glad for a bargain.

    Thank you for your replies.

I think the issue of my greed here is a little unfair, like many people I have a low income at the moment and like to take advantage of bargains as they come up! If the offer had been advertised as 5 per customer then no one would have any reason to question this, as it would have been outlined prior to reaching the till.

I would have had no problem had it had been the case. I'm just disappointed that it wasnt stated in any of the pre-advertising, but understand a need for a reasonable limit on these kind of offers.

No shop is obliged to sell you anything, regardless of what they have on display. No contract is formed until money changes hands at the till.

I agree that 10 packs is greedy and I have no idea how you would have managed to store them all in your fridge/freezer, but a solution to the problem is for you to take a friend/family member with you next time you go shopping and split the shop into two lots.

I agree it's a first come first served basis. It's like anything that's on offer, people will take full advantage of that offer. We eat a lot of chicken in my house, if it's on offer in the supermarkets I stock up whenever I can because I have a large family, it may seem a lot to one person but it is normal for me to buy 6 or 7 packs of chicken breasts each week, why shouldn't I buy 10 packs of chicken breast if I use that amount quite easily on a weekly basis?

It is harsh calling the OP greedy. Will you all be calling those people who go the Sainsburys toy sale in a couple of weeks time greedy when they load up their trolleys with half price toys, or at the Boots 75% sale? I remember a few years ago going to Boots during there first day of the 75% sale and saw this woman with 6 baskets overflowing with stuff, some of it I really wanted but I didn't think she was greedy, I actually had a laugh about it with her, she got there before me, she was obviously more in need than I was or I would've been queuing up hours before the store opened.

You get what you can, if you want it that bad you will get there early enough to take advantage yourself!!

It is so unnecessary to call the Op greedy!

As for storagel I bought a chest freezer specifically because I have a large family and to stock up on offers or reduced frozen items.

I suppose I must be greedy too! :(
