2K to invest & want to make as much as possible

Hi

I have just come into 2k (woohoo) and would like to invest where it could make the maximum amount. I am happy to take risks since I didn't expect to get this money anyway.

I use H&L for my ISA. I would like to invest in ISA but if someone can come up with any other option then I am willing to listen.

I suppose what I am asking is that suggest any risky funds/strategy that you can think of and let me see if I can make money out of it. Perhaps even something on a short time-scale would be fine (6 months).

Anyway, you get the idea. :j

Thanks.

Robie

Buy a car from ebay or a trade compound... clean it, polish it, sell it again. You could make £500 in 1 pop.

Getting that from a savings account could take more than 10years

Spread betting, with a bet on the price of gold falling.

You can always invest in shares. High risk strategy, especially on penny shares. You can either raise value of your holding massively or sinks in ever-ending loss, or lastly, it just move slowly.

That is if you are seriously shrugging the total loss of £2,000 just like that. :(

Do a Legal and general index tracker and get cashback on it. Should go up but it wont be massive, 10% would be exceptional. I would choose asia pacific but they do ftse and so on

2k is enough for about 10 gold sovereigns or alot of silver. One guy told me to buy 3k of diamonds because it cant fail to go up, with asia producing more millionaires maybe he is right but Ive never owned a diamond in my life, maybe you should just buy your wife a nice necklace
I reckon people should buy a full set of solid silver cutlery, make it a usable investment

Ben berneke's monetary policy idea is to threaten to throw money out of helicopters as a homage to the first batman movie and you want to bet the price is going down.
Definitely a contrarian bet right now and also likely to make a ton of money should it be right especially as a spreadbet would mean you were actually selling 20,000 dollars of gold (and owed that much if you are wrong)

Not quiet true, not if you had a tight stop loss set, if the market moves the wrong way you may lose £200(depends how tight your stop is) which would leave you £1800 to have another go.

Robie you need to assess your risk vs. reward ratio before committing to a action. Obviously greater the risk greater the potential reward/loss. Also keep in mind what knowledge and learning skills you possess.

Are you affluent in the stock market? Could you learn to be? £2,000 spent of self-improvement may be the best way for you to generate significant returns into the future.

Don't bother. 2k is nothing to invest.

Put it in a CASH ISA.

    Premium bonds

    Have children? Child fund.

Thanks (not sure to everyone, especially those talking about horse betting etc) but Sabretoothtiger, Coeus, Cashbackproblems, etc. Some interesting ideas, especially like self-teaching course. Really like that since I would not have thought of that - something to pursue.

I have never put money in oil exploration so that's a good thought too.

Buying wife a necklace - would keep me in her good books for a while ;-).

I might just put it on a risky stock and see how I do.

    Thanks for your interesting responses.
