Jobseekers Stopped full stop!

So I have been getting jobseekers for around 5 months now after being unemployed for the last 8 months and I recieved a letter basically saying it has been cancelled and won't be starting again.
Now heres what happened. One week I was given 4 jobs from my advisor and although my own fault a very simple mistake I misplaced one of these job adverts and so forgot about it and so it wasn't in my jobsearch for those 2 weeks. The other three jobs however were all there and I had email proof to show I had applied for them. Anyway long story short they said Id failed to meet the requirements and my payment is stopped until Dec 24th. I understand I messed up but it was just one job I prob wouldn't hve got anyway! and it makes me angry because there are obviously some people who turn up at the job centre who have no intention of looking for work I make one mistake and am punished. But as I said fair enough it was after all my mistake.
The second part then said we cannot pay you any money after 25th december because you haven't paid enough class 1 national insurance contributions between april 2007-april 2008?
now I dont get this part. I lived in australia from 2002-2009 and this was not an issue before when I applied for JSA so why would it be now as I wasn't in England for this time period anyway?
Does anyone know why it says that part too. I'll call the jobcentre number monday but just confused as to that part.

How many other jobs did you apply for that week though which you have PROOF of applying for??
Because if you applied for 10 other jobs + those 3 jobs (and just forgot to apply for 1) then if you appeal their decisoon they will have no leg to stand on,
as you would have applied for far more jobs that week than you are legally required to,
so the fact that you found the jobs yourself instead of them finding it for you is irrelevant, as over 4 jobs would have still been applied for.
If however you only applied for those 3 all week you are basically fcuked sorry.
And i don't know for certain about you being in australlia, but you should be getting income based jsa anyways,
which you can get even if you have never ever paid any national insurance before.
Why would you leave australlia though to come to this shlthole country anyways though?? :eek:0 -
These letters are standard letters which have dates entered and then are computer generated. The information which states they cannot pay you after Dec usually refers to the contribution based Jobseekers Allowance, however the letter never goes on to state that they can pay you Income Based, even though when you ring up the system will show that IB JSA will be reinstated after your sanction. (subject to satisfying the conditions of course).
It depends on your adviser but the decision maker will have been told that you failed to apply for a job and then sanctioned you because of this. Although the length of sanction is discretionary some decision makers go straight for the 6 month. You can ask for them to look at it again but the best route is to put in an appeal with all of the information, this enables the appeals section to consider the sanction in light of the bigger picture.
Most experienced appeals officers will realise what is reasonable and will not take an unwinnable case to Tribunal, this frequently results in the sanction being reduced or lifted. (depending on your jobseeking history)
Clearly I give this information assuming that you have not been subject to numerous previous sanctions which would of course affect the decision.
Meanwhile you should be claiming hardship allowance as you may qualify and if you receive housing and council tax benefit you should notify the department as they will receive notice that your JSA has stopped and will suspend benefit. They can assess you as having no income. The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0 -

Hi well in my fortnightly job search there were still the required 6 jobs that I have to apply for so the number of obs matches my agreement. The woman said though because It had been matched on the computer she had to report it as I hadn't applied... I just think it was a little harsh as I had applied for the relevant number of jobs and missed missed the one bloody job.
Yeah I have to call tomorrow to see what that second part means.0 -

Thank you for your reply. I have never had any other issues with my jobseekers claim this was the first problem. I will call up on Monday anyway and see whats what and hopefully get something resolved.0 -
Don't listen to the above.
You have been sanctioned under RE regs, it matters nothing what other jobs you applied for or what previous sanctions/disallowances you may have had. The sanction decision seems reasonable to me, the only point in appealing/requesting a reconsideration would be to have the period of sanction revised - but this could go up or down0 -

Dooker which part should he not listen to? What are RE regs? You are wrong the length of sanction is discretionary therefore previous sanctions are relevant and if you think a sanction which lasts at least 2 months is reasonable under the above circumstances while I think a week would be more reasonable then that is exactly why he needs to appeal to a Tribunal. Do you not agree he should claim hardship or establish whether IBJSA starts in December? The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0 -
The bits I mentioned: " it matters nothing what other jobs you applied for or what previous sanctions/disallowances you may have had"
What circumstances make the failure reasonable? He forgot, simple as that.0 -
OK we will have to agree to disagree but can you enlighten me on RE regs? Thanks. The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0
