"Good" card, "bad" card, or "in the middle" card?

Hi all,

My situation is this:

1 Default (satisfied) - 2007
1 Late payment - 2006
1 Late payment - 2007
1 Late payment - Jan 2010 - stupid problem when switching from British Gas, but hey-ho...

I have an overdraft and one credit card, both of which have green zeros all the way. I'm using 27% of my credit, which in turn is about 17% of my yearly salary.

With the above information, can any of you recommend a credit card to go for? Does the default mean that my only chance will be one of the "bad credit cards"? I'd like to get a 0% purchase card if possible, but I'm guessing it's extremely unlikely?

Basically you have a trashed credit report by the looks of it,you really need to start on one of the sub-prime cards such as vanquis but the apr is high on this around 50-60% apr unless you pay it in full.

Or try cap1 classic slightly better apr at 34.9%apr

unfortunately you will have to wait until 2013 for that default to fall off before you start looking for good offer cards

I know sygma silver card accepts people with slightly dodgy reports which they have 0% for 6 months,TBH you also have missed payments as well so wont like to say on that.
  • Thanks for the input. I've only ever had that one credit card and that was offered to me by my bank, so I've not really had experience with appying for them. I might try the Capital One or Vanquis as you have suggested.

    Thanks again :)

Try the Cap 1 Start card or the Barclays Initial.
