I was in New Mills (derbyshire) and was going up a hill in a flow of traffic and went past one of those lovely white van with the window open and a camera pointing out.
Didnt see it until i had driven past it.
No excuses, my own fault, two week wait now to see if i get a NIP.
Its a company car so the girls in the office will tell me first and have a laugh at me no doubt.

What a breath of fresh air for someone to put they're hands up and admit they were speeding and that whatever punishment comes their way is fair and just.
I can't stand people who go on about how unfair they are and that they will take it to the highest court in the land etc etc.
Just for that i hope that your speedo is out slightly and that you were just under the limit so receive no NIP.0 -
Just to update,
I have had no NIP through the post and the company has had none through the post either (to the best of their knowledge - big company) so i think i will be ok, trying to avoid wording that makes me look like i got away with it.
My two weeks are up tommorow.
One the plus side im being more careful regards speed limits now.0 -
It could have been taking your reg plate for MOT / insurance violations0
-
the vans with the cameras pointing out are normally checking reg nos for tax discs, you quite often see a black rat or traffic car a few hundred yards down the roadspeed is good0

If the car was registered in your name I'd say wait 3 weeks from the date of them possibly photographing you to be on the safe side.
However as it's a company car, is it registered to the company or to a leasing company?
BTW I thought I'd been caught by this sort of van in Dover earlier this year but never heard anything..0 -
Don't ask me how I know........ but in Derbyshire
The white van is an ANPR camera - Automatic Number Plate Recognition. It will have read your plate, and done a check to see if it was insured, taxed and MOT'd, or if then was any intelligence linked to the car.
You would have known about it if you had any problems as there are usually some marked cars lurking around just after it.
The speed camera van has hi vis orange markings all over the sides and back.0 -

If you are exceeding the posted limit you are exceeding it and are liable if caught.
However, that does not mean it is a sensible, realistic or safe limit. Often it is a limit set artificially below what meets those criteria for the sole purpose of generating revenue. Accidents in those locations that are used to justify some cameras are often caused by drivers who do not give a sh*t about whether there is a camera there or not. They will drive like loonies anyway. Consequently everyone else gets tarred with the same enforcement attempts!0 -
Sorry to hijack the thread, but didn't see the point in creating a new thread...
So do they have to contact you within 2 weeks by law?
I was driving along a main road earlier, wasn't concentrating, saw white lines on the ground and realised I was doing somewhere in the region of 37-40 in a 30 zone.
I think I saw a flash, but I'm not sure if it was the camera or one of the many fireworks we've had tonight. I don't know even if the camera has film in it.
I, like the OP, will hold my hands up and admit it was my own fault. I'm usually so careful around cameras to ensure I'm doing the correct speed...If I get a ticket, I get a ticket and will pay it and take the points. I just want to know how long I'm going to have to worry about it.

Yep if the car's registered in your name and at your address then if they haven't sent you a Notice of Intended Prosecution within 2 weeks (so allow 3 weeks for it to reach you), then there probably wasn't a camera in the housing..0
