RyanAir and suitcase tags?

Hi

Quick question, I've never flown via RyanAir always gone with Thomson.

When I picked the tickets up from Thomson they gave me some ultra strong paper suitcase tags, the type you put around the handle giving details or your name, flight and destination.

However, I've had nothing through the post with RyanAir so I'm assuming I'll get them at the airport.

Can someone confirm this is the case or do I need to get my own in advance.

Sorry for being a bit thick.. but would rather find out now than be at their mercy :rotfl:

You won't get tags from Ryanair. I never use them - the sticker that is attached to your suitcase at check in has all the details of your flight and arrival airport.

However I do leave an A4 sheet of paper inside my suitcase with my mobile number and destination address, just in case my suitcase should go astray.

I do the same - and make sure I don't leave anything with my home address in there! ;)
    Gone ... or have I?
  • OK thanks for the replies, great idea about the A4 sheet inside the case.

The most I take is a copy of my passport, EHIC, and insurance details just in case...:)

  • I use the A4 paper technique as well. Also have a return one in my flight bag which I put in my suitcase for the return leg. This has name, flight no, date and home address.

Whats the danger of putting a home address on?

If someone opens your suitcase on the outbound leg, they have your address and they know your house is unoccupied for the duration of your trip. One quick phone call to their dodgy mates and your house has been turned over....

Part of the reason that I never use luggage tags.

But how would they know the whole house was empty? Shorly the chance of you case being lost and not traceable is more likely?

But my case IS traceable. Going out, I leave my mobile number and destination address on a sheet of paper in my case. Coming back I leave my mob number and home address. What's difficult about that?

Agreed suitcase is traceable without luggage tags on by leaving Basic details inside i normally have hotel details, name, contact number and email addy on a piece of paper.
I don't bother with tags unless on inbound flight.
As for the burglary thing I am sure I read in a paper police arrested numerous baggage handlers for doing this very thing, they may not know if house is completely empty but they certainly have a bit of a heads up so can check it out anyway.

What they used to do was people would fill in both halves of the baggage labels the holiday companies provide before they left the UK. Someone at the airport would read the return details (date and home address) and pass these on. Therefore never put anything on your case to identify home address on way out.
