cleaning gloss paint off kitchen worktops

I have managed to drip some gloss paint on our kitchen worktops. They are a shiny black glossy wood and I tried white spirits but is doing something funny to the worktops and dulling the shine off them. I have googled it but turps/white spirits etc. It is right when you walk into the kitchen so cannot be covered up with something and am a complete loss as to what to do. Can anyone help or come up with an idea pr suggestion to help me as I am gutted that they might be ruined.
TIA
