Pre-pay meters are usually set at an average of 12% more per KWh than non-prepay meters.
Bearing in mind that the end user has to pay for their electricity and/or gas in advance, thus saving the energy supplier postage costs for paper billing, you would think it would be cheaper.Never Knowingly Understood.

Pre payment meters cost the same as credit meters with most suppliers now. The only difference in cost will be extra discounts for Direct debits.
Prepayment meter customers cost the industry much more. The meters break down more often meaning engineer call outs. Also it costs the suppliers every time someone tops up their meter. Use a comparison site - it'll show the unit prices for other suppliers in your area. Electricity prices will certainly vary by area ... as does gas sometimes with some suppliers.

The meters aren't showing a SC but just how much is in there £ wise, how many kw have been used and the flat rate of 23p per kw.Pre-pay meters are usually set at an average of 12% more per KWh than non-prepay meters.
If this is true, then with our landlords supplier the price should be about 10.5p. He is not allowed to profit nor add any admin charges to the price of electricity (we are a caravan site)0 -
