  • Just made Alex's fudge :D
I put rum and raisins in mine though. Managed to get a sugar thermometer for £4 which i thought was pretty good. So glad i got one, would have had no idea when to stop heating otherwise!
It's still setting but it tastes yummy from the pan.

Have had sudden change of plans (that's what happens when boys organise things, or at least these boys!). Now getting somewhere for about 7 rather than about 9 so not much time to get ready anymore! Think I will wear the red dress.

Where did you get your sugar thermometer from? The only place I saw one today was Waitrose and it was 'spensive :(

They sell them in Lakeland and I reckon John Lewis and other similar stores will prob stock them.

    Photogenic
I am taking two friends up to a wedding on Loch Lomondside, snow here is not too heavy but am going prepared.

    I have on
    heavy jeans
blue and green hooped rugby top
    Blue flannel shirt
The cord waistcoat, timberlands and blue fleece are going on before I go and I am taking the parka.

It's less than a 20 mile round trip but i am not taking chances.

Loads of snow for us, well, loads in terms of what the west country usually gets!

    Thermal: peacocks
Long sleeve black jumper dress: Primark
    Thick cardi: next
    Boring nude tights: tesco
    Black leggings: new look
  • Unfortunately my thermometer came from a little (though actually a huge shop full of goodies!) local cooking shop. This one but it's fairly expensive with p&p on amazon. Not sure I'd really recommend it though as the glass gets steamed up so the numbers get hard to read!

Tried John Lewis but I couldn't find any. Might have just been a but overwhelmed by the walls full of cooking stuff I never knew I needed though!

The fudge turned out a bit gooey - probably a bit to quick taking it off the heat or too late adding the rum so it didn't evaporate properly. More experiments needed :p

Anyway, I'm on the lookout for REALLY thick tights. I like ribbed ones but the ones I got from primark aren't as thick as i'd like and the M&S ones have holes in as part of the design... Anyone seen any better ones?

Hope you're feeling a bit brighter now Bratz :)

It's minus 11 outside, it took me 20 minutes to defrost the car and struggle into work for my PDR and the boss is ill and hasn't come in. GARGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

And some cheeky so and so has pinched the office heater so I'm huddled up in the following:

    Stompy boots - Chiara
Two pairs of socks (all 4 are odd, obviously)
    Red tights
    Jeans - DP
Long sleeved cream top - River Island sale
Giant cosy snowflake patterned cardi - vintage, via Oxfam
Tapestry coat - Kookai via car boot sale
    Fingerless gloves - dunno
    Stripy ear muffs - Accessorize

Bucketing with snow here and our road is an ice rink, saw one car crash last night and another this morning. Nurse meant to be coming out this morning but have cancelled as I worry about anyone driving in this (and she's 20wks pregnant!)

I also have a stinker of a cold, not planning on venturing out today though might have to as we have very little food in and not much that's any good for my meal plan.

    Outfit:
    Long sleeve thermal: Peacocks
Blue knitted jumper dress with bright specks: Primark
    Nude boring tights: Tesco
Thick bright blue tights: New Look

This cold has given me a temperature so I'm actually roasting :(
  • Ouch DB, good idea to cancel the nurse visit!
Weird we've got barely any snow here. We're at the top of a hill and there's an inch or 2 but nothing further down. It's very cold though so a lot of the pavements are too iced over to walk on. Need to get back to Birmingham on Wednesday so I'm hoping the trains will be OK. Worried about not being able to get back for Xmas :(

Popping into town to do present shopping soon. Need things for OHs parents but I still haven't thought of anything. I could try my hand at more fudge making I suppose.

I've seen those stripey ear muffs in accessorize Alex , theyre so cool!

Feel better soon poorly people :grouphug:
(don't pass it on to me in the dodgy looking threesome hug though :p)
