Browser/Task bar problem!!!

Hi
I tried to print a document - a message appeared which said 'cannot access desktop to show message' or similar. I clicked on 'show message' which took me to a blank pale blue screen - but not the crash screen. I had to turn off at the power button, but PC started with no problem- until, I have no tool bars - start button - shortcut menu, etc.
The only way to access anything other than desk top is through mozilla icon on desktop.

Its Vista and did PC housework this morning ie. CCleaner - Malware bytes - Super Anti Spyware and Defraggler. All seemed fine afterwards.
But I've remembered that after the last 2 'system restores' I get back to after the login screen and it just hangs.

Can anyone help please?

Muchos

last para isn't very clear, you've managed to do a system restore, is explorer working, if task manager is working, try new task, explorer, and new task cmd

    chkdsk c: /F

    then reboot

  • Hi Thanks but panic over :)

Where I wrote about the 2 system restores I meant previous ones ie. 1 a couple of weeks ago, and 1 prior to that but dont know when. After I get to signing in again the screen goes black with only the mouse cursor showing but static. It happened again today - so I just touch the power button (not hold it in) and it logs off and shuts down. When I restart it doesn't tell me that there has been a problem or anything and starts as normal. System restore reports successful. Weird  , and any info about this would be great.

The Grandmaster: I did a Malwarebytes quick scan and all clear but if you think its worth a full one I'll do it :))

    Thank you both
