fuzzy resolution

I recently transferred my acer lcd screen to an older PC which is running Windows 2000. All the usual resolution adjustments via the display icon and through the control panel of the screen fail to correct what I can only describe as a fuzziness around text etc. Colours eg on a drop down chart of colours appear pixalated. Any ideas please?

You beat me to it, I was just looking at my computer settings think the same.0 -
are you sure you are using the same/correct resolution? TFT's have one optimal resolution, all others will look fuzzy.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

albertross, thanks...I have worked out that its a compatability problem - I think...I believe from reading around the subject that most LCD monitors inform the PC of their native resolution using Extended display identification data (EDID). If this does not happen then one experiences exactly this type of problem. Not sure where one goes to correct this - software etc....

Wasn't that called 'font smoothing' in earlier Windows editions?0 -
Try downloading this, I find it very useful for optimising TFT displays http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/ClearType-Tuner-PowerToy.shtml0

What is the native res of the Acer?
Can you select that native res on your 2000 computer? The graphics card may not suuport the LCD native resolution.0 -
Have you tried installing the driver for your monitor?
