I wanted to ask this question before going out and buying an external hard drive.
I have just bought a Mac Mini small desktop and before that I used a Windows PC for downloading programmes from iPlayer. If possible I would like to record the programmes direct onto the external hard drive rather than onto the Mac Mini internal drive.
Could someone tell me if this is possible?
Also, I have heard of these external drives failing (I suppose any internal or external drive could) but can anybody suggest a reliable external drive as I have a lot of music and photos to store on the drive too. I have seen Western Digital, Lacie, Buffalo and a few other drives in the shops.
Many thanks

About the external harddrive, whatever maker it is, with wear and tear, it will start breaking. Just have to make a few copies of anything important. I personally use buffalo external HDs.0
