Payment Protection Insurance Refunds

Hi - I have been receiving call from a company which says that they can help me get a refund for PPI as this has been declared fraudulent. Can anyone advise about this please? They had my mobile number and said they had access to records which indicated that I had been sold this insurance. (A bit worrying) My questions are:
Is this likely to be genuine?
Should I be looking at this issue anyway - ie are there really refunds available for this?
Thanks
Viv

PPI has not been declared fraudulent. They had my mobile number and said they had access to records which indicated that I had been sold this insurance. (A bit worrying)
PPI insurance details are not in the public domain. If they have data on you then they have it through unlawful means. Typically claims companies pretend they have data but in reality are just cold calling and will get lucky some of the time. Other times they will have data which has been stolen by them or a third party that has sold it to them.Is this likely to be genuine?
Most claims companies are dodgy fly by night companies. Many are phoenixed from companies already shut down by the MoJ but reopening under a new name.Should I be looking at this issue anyway - ie are there really refunds available for this?
If you were mis-sold any financial product then you have a right to complain using the free complaints process set in place by the FSA. There is no need to use dodgy claims companies who will take great chunks of your money if successful.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
