Aberdeen Asia Pacific fund in an ISA wrapper

I want to invest about £600 in a fund in an ISA wrapper in my boyfriends name as his christmas present (sick of buying him things which clutter up the house and if he wanted anything particular he'd almost certainly have bought it himself by now). I was thinking of the Aberdeen Asia Pacific fund as I don't mind taking a risk. Does anyone have any opinions on that fund particularly? Secondly for that small an amount is any particular discount broker better than another?
Any advice much appreciated even if it's don't touch that fund with a bargepole

For its sector, it has a good track record, and Hugh Young has a cracking reputation. If you believe that Asia Pacific is the best place to invest, then you could do worse, but if you're happy to take a risk, why restrict the fund manager to one region? Have you thought of a global fund?I'm an Investment Manager. Any comments I make on this board should be not be construed as advice, and are for general information purposes only.0

Need to check that he hasn't already got a maxi or mini share isa.
How good the fund is is your decision.
For a broker I like Hargreaves Lansdown.
Have a look at their site - they give analysis of the funds too.
If ever you want to change boyfriends .......

Thanks both. I was interested in that fund because I thought restricting it to Asia might be more risky but possibly more ultimately rewarding. If it all goes tits up then he's lost nothing because it was a present and I've lost nothing because I would have spent the money on a present anyway. I can't remember what I read that made me think that fund was a good one now and I can't seem to find it again either but I was thinking of possibly buying some for me too at some point.
Since I handle all his finances I know for certain he has no ISA's this year
