Hi searched for this for a while but could not find an easy answer.
I am trying to do a clean install of thunderbird rather than an update and do not want to go through the migration from the older versions as I will not need to import anything else apart from my stored emails from the older version. Does any one know were the emails (and only the emails) are stored in thunderbird and whether I could just somehow transfer the files to the new installation folder? Something like drag and drop would be ideal to ensure my new installation is not changed.

Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

Its in your Username\Appdata\Roaming ..... (depending on which version of Windows.7 as before, could be \Application Data\ Thunderbird\Profiles\randomname.default.) save a copy of that somewhere (for safety) and then leave it where it is. Uninstall Thundebird and re install it should pick it all up again4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Thanks DCM. One stumbling block (which I forgot to mention) is that I am using the portable application so none of the folders are stored in the app data folder of W7debitcardmayhem wrote: »Its in your Username\Appdata\Roaming ..... Thanks but am I right in thinking that this profile folder contains everything including the various settings? I just want the stored emails without overwriting everything else that would be in the new 'Profile' folder.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

If you click 'Account Settings' on the 'Tools' menu you'll find an item in the treeview on the left of the window called 'Local Folders'. That tells you where your email data is stored. I think that if you go to that folder - say c:\A\B\C\D\E\F\ - then you need to go two folders earlier - say c:\A\B\C\D\ - and copy all of those files to its equiviliant on your new installation. The folder will have a random name and its parent should be called 'Profiles'.0
