Settlement discount?

Just wondered about accepting a settlement discount on a credit card.

Is it possible that a credit card company could offset the difference that you saved against any PPI or charges owed?

I had an account with capital one and they sold the debt to capquest in september 2009 and I accepted a settlement figure from pretty much the first day of dealing with capquest and this was paid at the back of end of October 2009. The saving was around 82 quid.

If I had PPI or charges to be refunded could capital offset this against the settlement saving? Just that capquest bought the loan so it shouldnt really concern capital.

Cheers in advance :)

Martin
