oh okies; many thanks for your help! I'm applying for an xmas temp post online and i'm faced with these questions, I dont reli know what kinda answers are right and wrong lyk.
I didnt realise you meant on the application. is there an option to apply for stock room staff as well as shop floor? I applied for shop floor first and got turned down, went back online and applied for stock room, and the next day they rang me, and asked if i would be happy with shop floor, which is what i got. On the stock room app they dont ask the fashion questions ie what are the 3 key trends this season etc it is much easier.Everyone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p0 -

Not night shifts as such but some do shifts till 8pm and some do 6am start shifts- depending on deliveries- they are the warehouse jobs.
Christmas temps are also taken on as a lot of towns put on one night a week late night shopping for christmas so I used to give the college kids 4-8pm shifts!0 -
oh ok, I applied for stockroom asst at a next store near me, I got asked 10 scenario based questions on cust care etc. incl the fashion trends. I got an email this morning saying I hadn't scored the desired mark on the questionnaire... bad times as I thought I'd answered them correctly, unless they had trick answers!!0

when i was an xmas temp for next we just wore our own clothes, and got no discount.0

Well ive spoken to a few people who work for next and it looks like it varies by store. One lady has told me that you get the uniform discount if you are contracted as a temp for more than 13 weeks (which i am) and then the amount you can spend depends on your hours, ie -
up to 8 hours, £75, more hours= more allowance.
Others have said, including mse'ers, that there is none for temps. Oh well guess ill just have to wait and see i suppose.
At the very worst there will be 25% off so cant grumble really, though i am working every other day so cant really just wear the same top over and over like i could if i just had saturdays or something.
Thanks for your replies guys.
Aheetun, sorry to hear that. My sister got turned down too, and she has retail experience, I dont have any. Luck of the draw I guess. Those questions were quite hard, if your not a fashion follower.Everyone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p0 -
It does vary from store to store.
There's a reply from a Next ex-manager above somewhere which is correct, and was the line we were given to follow. My first year with Next temps were asked to dress in black, and got no discount at all.
The second year, temps were given the usual 75% off, to the total of £75 full price.
The third year, temps were told they could buy one top at 75% off.
It does vary, I had £350 per year at 75% discount being full-time. The actual items could change- at times we were allowed to order jeans and informal tops, then when the next allowance came, we would be told smart suits only. They did attempt to tell us at one stage that women had to wear skirts only, but that lasted a very short time.
The more hours in the contract, the bigger the discount.0 -

I used to work in topshop and they actually did check the labels on our clothes!0 -
Yeah, we had tags checked as well in Next. Can't imagine them doing the same with temps though.0

Really? :eek::rotfl:
How awful. Well im confident from the above replies that as a temp they wont force me to wear all next so i wont panic too much lol. Though i will definately be buying two or three tops whether theres a discount or not just so i feel the partEveryone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p0 -
