Wireless Telephone Extension

I have just purchased a wireless home alarm system that has a function to call up to three pre-stored telephone numbers of the users choice to alert to the alarm being triggered. HERE is the system. I got it for £100 not £180 so if any body is interested in one I can post the link :money:

My current telephone socket is in the living room and I would like to avoid running cables for the alarm system under the very newly laid carpet and through at least one door frame to reach the telephone socket in the living room.

I have seen a product Here that apparently eradicates the need to lay cables. On investigating it seems that a lot of people are seeking these products to use with sky tv.

Does any body know if the product will allow my alarm keypad in the hallway to send a telephone signal to the socket in the living room and make calls to our pre set numbers for the alarm?

Any advice would be greatly welcomed.

I wouldn't bother, thieves are gone within 5 mins and after the first false alarm that you get and panic you will disconnect it anyway.

You think I should just leave out this feature? In fairness this wasn't the reason that I bought it. I just wanted an alarm.

Assuming that the keypad would dial out to a wired phone socket then it should indeed work through the extender you linked to. I have an older extender, of analogue type, it has the snag that answerphone and fax are not triggered while they would be with a wire. But am a bit concerned that if I get the newer DECT type (probably as the one mentioned above), it will interfere with an existing DECT phone. Only really worth using if you have a WiFi/GSM camera to check if alarm is false or not, IMHO.

Even if the real leaf has gone by the time you react, at least you know immediately and can make the house secure again.
