Remote Desktop Windows 7

I am having trouble using remote desktop to a windows 7 ultimate machine over the internet.
I know that it is set up fine on the host machine as I can access it OK using remote desktop from another machine on the same network (by using the local IP 192.160.x.x ). All good locally.
My issue is getting to it via the internet. I am not sure what I should be entering as the remote host name computer. I forwarded port 3389 to the host IP.
I have a dynamic dns account xxx.getmyip.com. I know this works and is configured correctly because I can view my IP CAM over the internet using it.
I have enabled remote desktop on my router.
I have windows firewall which should have updated itself when I allowed remote desktop connections...
I am not clear what host name to type.... I have tried xxx.getmyip.com
and xxx.getmyip.com:3389
Neither works. Anyone ever got this working?

Start Run > Mstsc will bring up the remote desktop window if you have not already got it
Then in the hostname box enter blah.blah.com you do not need to enter the :3389 unless you have changed the port on the host machine.
If this does not work check you have not put your DVR into the DMZ which is then causing ALL ports to be forwarded to your IPcam rather than the Win7 host.
(PS I use Remote Desktop (RDP) in a work setting daily with no issues at all between Servers and workstations however you could try logmein.com's free desktop sharing if all your want is quick access.)0 -

Sorted. I have put the IP of the machine I wish to access in the DMZ and it works. Probably not the most secure solution but needs must...0

Were you forwarding UDP or TCP ... it should be TCP0
