Hiya right it has got to the point where we are letting my step daughter use the PC to type up her schoolwork only.
I don't want her having access to MSN Messenger, does anyone know how i can make it so that she can't access it, but so I can. I need it for work and have over 500 contacts that I can't afford to lose! Grrr!
Have looked and looked and just can't see a way, maybe there isn't lol!
Thanks for reading this and maybe it has got to the point where I buy her a typewriter or have to sit next to her when shes doing her work.

You can setup a very restricted account and use gpedit.msc (start--run--gpedit.msc) to lock down what she can/cannot have access too.0

Thanks I have her on a limited account as it gives the option of limited or administrator. The gpedit.msc says file not found though... Think it is only on the Pro and not the Home version. Bah! lol!0

The only way I can think of is banning it using your firewall (Zonealarm or the like) and password protecting the firewall. Then when you want to use it (MSN) you can unban it. Not very elegant I know, but it'll save you having to install a nanny program.

Or you could just disable the internet full stop!!!0 -
Zahc you know i think you might have an idea there, think i'll disable the net when shes on! lol! Thanks for your help guys!

Rename the MSN.EXE file to something unguessable? Only You know what its new name is...!

Firewall idea may be best. If she can't use MSN she could still use something like Windows Messenger, or Trillian.
Best bet is to block the ports it uses when you're not using it."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
