Not recieved goods, how long to wait?

I bought something from a seller on ebay on the 26th September. Its not so much a 'product' as a code, which could either be posted out, or the seller could just scratch the code off and email it to me (email was listed as an option in this auction).

I've bought several of these from other sellers, and usually they don't charge P&P if you ask for it emailed. The seller in this case offered two different postage costs for standard and recorded, but nothing for email.

I mistakenly assumed that meant no charge for email and just paid the value of the auction. On the 28th I got a refund back with a 'You didn't include the postage'. On the 29th I sent him an apology and a payment + postage, and again re-iterrated that I wanted it emailed, and the email address I wanted it sent to. (He said in the auction allow 48 hours for email of code)

I didn't get any response, so on the 5th october used 'Ask seller a question' to again apologise for making a mistake and asked him if he had emailed it or posted it, and in either case, what details he had used.

I haven't had any response back yet.

I'll send him another question just in case the first one didn't arrive, but how long would you wait before trying to get a refund? The seller has a very good percentage of feedback, although the main 'complaint' seems to be something like 'Nice product, but poor communication from seller'.

This is the first time I've had a purchase on ebay go wrong. Am I getting antsy too soon? What would you do from here?

Thanks.

If he e-mails it to you he will be open to an item not delivered dispute so I could understand why he is not keen on that. However you should have received it by now. Give iut until tomorrow after the post has arrived and then just start a NPS action via paypal and EBay. Let them sort it out. That will probably at least get a response from the seller. Do not stop this action until you receive the item.

Its a code for Microsoft Points for Xbox Live. They come on a little plastic card, you scratch the silver off to reveal the code and type it in. They're around £17 in the shops, which is a total rip-off. Usually you can get them cheaper on eBay, so I just keep an eye on the prices and pick up the good ones as and when to keep my points total topped up.

He said in the auction that he was willing to email it, as long as the email address was a confirmed on paypal one. If he's posted it then fair enough I guess (although why say in the auction he's willing to email?) - I just wish he'd answer one way or the other :(

    Thanks for the advice.

I personally wouldn't worry just yet. I have come across quite a few "bad communicators" and sellers who take a long time to send on the item you win. It's not convenient, but it happens!

IMO there is a lot to consider before starting the Item not received process. You can do it now if you want, as it can be done after 10 days and before 60 from end of auction. I would consider the sellers feedback (you said the seller seemed to be a bad communicator anyway) Get hold of his registered details from ebay, this way he knows you have asked. Also could he be away just now? What does it say on any neutral or negative feedback he received? I would email again & change the email subject to something that will catch his eye... Like RESPONSE required ebay Item xxxxx or “my last email before I action non receipt of item xxxxxx process (with ebay/paypal)”.

    Keep us updated.

Thanks for your thoughts alba37. I've sent the seller another email and I'll see how it goes.

I realise things go wrong sometimes - the seller still seems to be 'around' as he is getting feedback left for him about other sales (although he doesn't have anything else listed at this time). I'm probably just antsy because I really wanted the points a lot sooner than this, and the 'within 48 hours' was one of the major factors in me chosing to buy from him instead of the other seller that had one up at the time :-p

I'll be sure to post back to say what happens.

    You're welcome!

I know how you feel as similar things have happened to me in the past, it is so annoying waiting, especially when he only needs to send you an email.

Have you requested his contact information? If not do that now too, it does no harm for him to know you may call him!

Good luck & I look forward to hearing you got your code very soon!
