credit card owes me?

I was surprised to see my credit card owes me £800 onmy statement.
Rang them, they said yes they will write me a cheque and it has been their a while
must have been an error.
I only have a statements from May and it was there then.
How can they owe me? I wouldn't have overpaid.
Do I spend or not?
Thanks

They say they owe you money.. Take it and use it for christmas. Not everyday £800 comes back at you

Personally, I'd stick it in a savings account as it may be that someone else's payment has gone astray and landed in your account.

They may notice and want the money back - whether or not they're entitled to it is another matter. But, from my own "moral" standpoint, I'd want to return the money to it's rightful owner should they eventually look for it as I know if the tables were reversed that I would want the money back.
My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

Not necessarily a few months, they have 6 years to do it.

Just put it in a savings account and in six years time, you can spend it.

Why didnt you ask them how it got to be in that much credit.
At lease you would have known then.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Another possibility - have you had to have a replacement card anytime recently?

I had to report my Cap One card lost a while back and it took several months before Capital One realised they hadn't transferred the balance from my old account number over to the new one.
