Similar happened to me once, received mouldy bread and an out of date fillet steak.
Rang them up and told them, they offered to refund the cost of the bread and meat (approx £6) and I said they should come and pick up the entire lot as I couldn't trust a thing they had delivered to me any more.
So I got the lot for free..0 -

Indeed, I believe shops can sell items past the 'Best Before' date as long as they inform you that it is past the date.
The other date is 'Use By' date for more perishable goods which obviously must be sold by that date.
There is technically no such thing as a 'Sell By' date.0 -

I believe that they don't even have to tell you that its out of date, if its a beft before date,Titch0 -

On Monday 23rd I went into Asda Grantham And picked up a 6 pint carton of Organic Whole Milk with a few other things. We give the milk to DS who is 1 and DD who is 2 and a half.
DS was sick profusely on wednesday and Thursday night (25/26th) and we put it down to a reaction to his MMR vaccine on Wed morning.
On Friday 27th am I checked the milk date as I know it must be close to date if we had had it four days.
Use by date was Sunday 22nd October!
So Asda had sold me a milk carton to be used by the day before I bought it.
I rang up the store that PM and was assured by a manager that he would get the fresh produce manager to ring me that night to ascertain product codes etc to investigate.
Guess what
no phone calls
I rang today and all the managers were in meetings.
i rang head office and they said they would refund me. big deal Its not about the money,
They have potentially compromised the health of my children because they have failed to do what they need to do.
I rang Trading Standards who were appaled and heve promised to investigate and will be calling me back again to discuss in fine detail.
As people have said it id the callousness that infuriates.0 -
Home shopping is a godsend for supermarkets, at last they have a way of disposing of there nearly out of date food without financial loss0
