One right angle mitre joint in work top

How much would this sort of thing be - had a quote for £160, but that includes cutting worktop for a sink (and fitting a hob unit, which is strange as I didn't ask for that) We can cut both lengths of worktop to size, it's just the mitre joint we'd like done professionally.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

  • I've never had quotes for doing this as I would do these things myself. £160 would be what I would expect to pay for a days work. A professional fitter should do the things listed in about half that time. However, he needs to cover his costs for the full day unless he can fit in some other work. So it is possibly what you might have to pay.

It is quite easy to do yourself if you are a reasonable DIY'er and have a router. You would need to buy the bits and hire a jig. The jig would cost about £40 for a weekend hire.
  • I'm abouts to have a new Kitchen, and have been thinking about this myself-- I'm SURE an old friend had this done a couple of years ago, he took the worktops to a trade place and they did them while he waited for about £15...

I can't guarantee that that is 100% correct, as its from memory, though if its as pricey as you say then I'll have to think twice...

Just done this myself. Hired the router and jig for about £30.00.....perfect finish!! It was very easy to do.

Hubby decided to bit the bullet - he's purchased a router and jig and all the bits from Ebay for £89........... Please form an orderly queue ;)

  • spoke to my mate last night, he payed about £35 apparently, he took the worktops to them, and the price included the bits.
