Just to be on the safe side, what rubbish removers has he and are they up to date?
At the very least he needs Adaware, Spybot S&D, Spywareblaster and Hijack this.Make sure they are updated. If after running scans of the first 2 he still has the problem make sure Hijack this is running from its own folder (not temp) run a scan, save it and cut/paste onto one of the following sites. These hijackers can take some removing and expert help can make the process far less stressful.

I cant belive that to be the case.
I have never seen any type of malware hijack autocomplete.
autocomplete works on the basis of remembering keystrokes that are entered into explorer/internet explorer.
Guilty i say£2 savers club = £83.500 -

Still it can't do any harm to try as I suggested, it will at least eliminate possibilities.Down south where, unfortunately, the government does remember us.0

If the address pops up in the address bar when typing www. the site has been visited. No ifs or buts about it. Someone posted earlier about pop ups which can occur when you click on a link, usually when looking for a *ahem* crack to evaluate software.
You can sit at any computer and start typing an address and you will see with each letter typed after www. the auto complete showing sites it has visited.
I sometimes fix mates computers because they have problems with their internet connection and when the *naughty sites* are identified as being the reason why the problem has occurred (usually a dialer has been secretly installed or the system sent to not connect automatically) they will usually deny ever visiting them and it must be some type of virus which caused it.
Inevitably, if you use the internet you will somewhere down the line get directed to a !!!!!! site, however, if there is a *lot* of sites you can be certain it's not there by accident.
It doesn't mean there is something wrong with the person looking at those sites, it maybe nothing more than curiosity on the persons part.Welcome, rogerramjet.
