Tipping kitchen/bathroom fitters?

blimey. I would not even consider tipping. Sorry but I cannot see why you would tip. I make brews, and provide biscuits when I have workmen in.
The gist seems to be not to tip. I have tipped a plasterer I had in to skim over 40m2 of artex. He charged me £200 and I gave him £220.
I also tipped a carpet fitter a fiver on a £60 job - mainly because his young mate was so good and told him that I expected it to go to him.
Reading through these posts I am not sure why I did!! Oh well - you live and learn. Someone else mentioned £40 if there was 4 of them that is a good drink which I am sure they will appreciate.
People quote for the job and their wage and profit is included in that. I always tip in restuarants as long as the service is good. However I very rarely tip in a pub or bar when in theory these people are working their ti7s off for minimum wage.
It also annoys me when in a taxi the fare almost always comes to whatever 70 or 80. And they expect you to say - "Oh keep the change and then scrabble about as if it is a massive effort to them.0 -

get some beer in then the main man cant slide the cash in his own pocket
This is probably the most sensible option - get a few crates on the supermarkets 3 for £20 - possibly asking what they like to drink. Some may drink premium strong lagers - exports / Stella / Becks / Kronenbourg - some may like weak pish like Fosters / Carling, some may be cider drinkers and some ale or stout drinkers like John Smiths / Caffreys etc.
A couple of boxes of Becks - you can't really go wrong - and won't cost you £40!!

blimey! the woman seem to be happy and would like to thank the workmen my friend!, you making it like she s comiting a crime;)
i do work time after time with the client leaving me the keys and heading to work, and although i trust my plasterers, i still make sure they just keep an eye to the job and that all.
not relying on tips, and yes when i do get any it always comes as a surprise..but just thinking how many times i have just ignored small bits that werent included on the quote that i could have bypased but didnt, just to get the job done .
most of my clients are white collars who dont even have a screwdriver in the house, let alone being left to do little things unfinished ..
nobody s putting a gun on my head, but whenever i get workers to my house, if i m pleased then yes i would ask my wife to cook for them and will give something on top of the agreed price...it makes me feel good0 -
I tip if they do a good job, but the amount depends on how much I've had to shell out in the first place
. I've also had some work done at "mates rates", and always tip more in those circumstances.

Definitely not mates rates...(eye-watering amount to do kitchen, utility, ensuite wetroom and family bathroom...). With the exception of one tiler, they are all in-house to the kitchen/bathroom company (so not hired by us).
They have been great and have done little extras (like moved a couple of appliances, put a couple of door stops into the floor that they tiled etc...) and just Bern very through, helpful and professional. Definitely top drawer fitters...
A couple of crates of beer would have been the most sense IF I hadn't asked the PM.... Since he has said "cash", would feel bad to give anything else now...0 -
