Cash paid in.. but not showing!!

I paid in £534.89 (£500 cash and £34.89 cheque) to my First Direct current account (via HSBC Branch) using my paying book at 11.30 this morning.
I've just check my online banking as it's not showing???
I can't see any reason why the cash is not showing!!! I've looked back at my other cash deposits and all have shown same day.. should I start to worry??
Anyone else had this?

Are First Direct and HBSC part of the same company? Do you normally pay in at the same branch?
I bank with the Abbey and it takes them 3 days to clear a cash deposit form their own ATM!I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Did you get a receipt? (or stamp in your book).
If you have proof then there is absolutely no need to worry.
If you didn't get any form of receipt for £500 worth of cash then I would suggest that you DO start to worry UP FRONT.
That way you will get names, dates, times, stamps, receipts and not have problems in future.0 -
I didn't pay it in at my normal branch. But I did use my paying book so I do have a receipt. How long should I leave it before chasing??Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092

I would leave it a week.
Normally it wouldn't take that long, but there can be all sorts of reasons why there might be a delay.
For example an IT problem might mean the on-line system is not working and when you eventually see it, it will be backdated to the correct day.0 -
I phoned them! Because I paid cash AND a cheque.. it won't show till the next day! But if I paid them in separately then the cash would show today and the cheque tomorrow! Lucky I don't need the money for anything!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092

3.8 Cash and Cheques Mixed and Self Service Payments In
If you pay into your account a mixture of cash and cheques on the same paying in slip at a branch or through a self service machine ( cash only and cash and cheques mixed) at HSBC Bank before 3:30 p.m. on a business weekday, you will normally be able to withdraw the cash on the next business weekday. Your cheques will be subject to the clearance cycle described above. If you pay in after 3:30 p.m. on a business weekday or at any time on a non business weekday your payment will be treated as having been made on the next business weekday before 3:30 p.m. For interest calculation purposes (if applicable) the cash is taken into account on the day it shows as a credit to your account.0
