Moscow Hotel(October 31st for 3nights)

Hi

Will be in Moscow on the 31st of October for 3nights. Looking for a nice yet cheap bedroom for two. Due to the language barrier and my lack of ability in finding great deals over the net...i aint having much luck. Would be much appreciated if anybody here could post some links and quotes....would be a BIG help to me.

Cheers

Went to Moscow in August and I'm afraid that Moscow and cheap don't go together in the same sentence.

Our taxi from the airport to the hotel was £50 (fortunately this was business travel) so would definitely advise not getting a taxi unless desperate.

Can't really help with the accomodation but would avoid larger hotels as they may well be targeted by ladies of the night.

There is no english in Moscow outside of the airport and the signs (street and metro) are in Cyrillic language (the funny letters).
Make sure you have a good guide book and try to find maps (metro and street) in Cyrillic and not English. We have a street map in a different language to the signs so it wasn't much help and it's not easy to translate.

    Good luck.

Have you tried using the search facility (serious suggestion not being sarcastic).
I asked for some advice about 6 or 7 weeks ago and some of the info on that thread may well be relevant.

Moscow is a great place and you will have a great time.
The downsides are the expense, the language, the hygiene (food) and the bureacracy but we had no real problems.

If you don't get any recommendations then a good site to look at is
    https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk

It has recommendations and "candid" photos from fellow travellers.
I use it quite a bit and find it very useful.
Obviously people's tastes and experiences vary but you can get a general view if there are many reviews.

    hi
went there for the football last year main advice is haggle with everybody as they all hike the price up for visitors (we landed and the taxi went from $150 to $40 within 10 mins) they love usa $$$
we stayed at the old olympic village hotel which was cheap and only a short metro ride away from the city (metro was only about 10p)

if i can find the name of the hotel or you need any other info let me know

    cheers

We took a number of $1 bills to use as tips.

They are accepted in many countries so it doesn't matter if you don't use them all as they can be used on future holidays.
