Which tent to go for

Look on a few camping websites for expensive ones then look on e-bay for the same brand - there will be lots on there from disillusioned campers!try looking on ukcampsite.co.uk you'll find info on tents, trailer tents, van etc on there. Free to join.
You'll also be able to find out about campsites as well
Awesome thanks. I've got my eye on a little camp site near Binham in North Norfolk a mile or so from my favourite pub, that has a micro brewery in the car park - smallest in the country I think (brewery not car park). Now all I've got to do is find a tent / trailer! Plenty of info to go at here so thanks loads guys and girls. Appreciated.:)0 -

These are now £69 and I bought one for £99 and am still happy with it. We bought it as a weekend tent for the family for one or two night stays, when we planned only to sleep in the tent and eat out, apart from breakfast.

Thanks all especially for the advice re trailer tent. I'd never really thought about that option before. I'll look into it. Really, it's just for me on my walking day / night away in North Norfolk. Eventually OH and little un will want to come, but for now it's me on my own walking and drinking real ale in a local pub somewhere. Pure heaven. Just going to search for trailer tents thanks again for the idea.
In that case- you could use just the trailer set up for when you're on your own, and put up the awning when you have company & want more space

We have a camplet trailer tent - not the cheapest but a fantastic compromise between a campervan and a tent - can be put up really quickly yet has all the comforts of a camper - check out https://www.camperlands.co.uk it is an excellent site /place if you are up North :0) we ended up getting ours off ebay at the end of the season - brand new and a damn sight cheaper than new :0) TT's are especially good if you have kids as there is plenty of room - we have four dogs in ours most of the time :0)My post count doesn't reflect the amount of time spent on here :0) I just keep forgetting my login details - now saved.0

We have a trailer tent. It is a good compromise between a caravan and a tent. Soft beds, carpet on the floor, heating, sink, cooker etc. It's also easy to tow and easy to store.
However, putting it up on your own is a pain... even without the awning.0 -

Excellent thanks. Do you use this all year round or just summer months?0 -
Thanks to everyone who passed on their advice regarding tents, trailer tents etc.
I'm delighted to say that I've just ordered the tent suggested by CountryGoose. I'll see how I get on with this before branching out into more expensive options. As I mentioned, my main reason for wanting this is to go off for occasional days away walking in North Norfolk. I want to be able to have a real ale or three so the idea is to have somewhere to kip overnight. This seems like a great option to begin with (if not it's too late as I've ordered it!).
Another question is campsites. I've seen a little one near Binham in North Norfolk, but it says it's only open to Caravan and Camping members. I'll have a look into how this works.0 -
I have a Marmot Halo tent but they are pricy (got a discount as I knew someone in store) fantastic ten but orange seems to attract the bugs, the one you went for seems decent for the price, air it well as it may suffer from condensation.
I have also unfortunately had to lug tents to Spain, Austria, Wales and Italy ;o)))))0 -

Thanks for this. All the reviews suggest that condensation isn't too much of a problem due to the air ventilation system, but we'll see. They have just brought out 'Air' version, which has extra ventilation, but this XXL version of the tent seemed to fit the bill and is exactly what I wanted. A good way to test the water. Perhaps I'll get lonely out there on my own, who knows. I just want to be able to pop down to Norfolk have a walk and have a few beers and then come back the next day.
