Boxing day sales are just another in a long run of sales. They are actually a con, as it is the only time many bed stores actually sell at close to the actual price they should be selling at.0 -
Tim
What do you think of the beds that i've listed, which one do you think is best or think would suit us best?
Are Jan sales on beds not much cheaper then?
Would a topper be any good for a few months until after xmas? thank you0 -
Any other suggestions for good companies to buy a mattress from? So far it looks like most places have awful C/S !
There must be at least a few places to buy from that are reasonably priced and like customers!0 -
For some reason no one posts where they have bought their beds from or which. Very frustrating. As i myself am lookin for a new bed and ive given up lately. Gona wait till backdated money gets through then start lookin again. Hopefully these forums will have some suggestions by then other than tim and other bed sellers posting about advice when all i wana know is a good bed for so so money and is a bargain.0

Yeah it's difficult to get a bed reccommended :-( Although in a previous post Rosie did say her bed was very good and said where she had bought it.....thank you rosie.
Anyone else bought a bed recently? if so which one and what is it like?0 -
I can't recommend IKEA mattresses enough. We have a fabulous memory-foam-ish-type-one which is perfect for OH's bad back and my dodgy hips.0

There are many posters on MSE who wouldn't agree with you, as they are terrible quality. But what suits one person doesn't always suit another.0

I have a continental sized double bed with sprung slats with just over 2 1/2 inch gap inbetween. The headrest is only 20 1/2 inches tall from bottom (where the mattress would lie) to top. I have read loads of people recommending the La romantica madrid mattress. I like the fact it's turnable with comfort foam on both sides and a fairly high pocket spring count. However, I'm not sure I need the pocket springs with the slatted base and at 11 inches deep it would mean only 9 inches of headrest would show.
I need to know if I really need a pocket sprung mattress with a sprung slatted base? I would also like a shallower mattress max 9 inches deep and one that's good for my back.
Can anyone recommend anything for me please
Oh p.s. to help the previous posters it's a Habitat Ottorri bed which I had to wait aaaaaaaages for!0 -

Doesn't your headboard have elongated slots on it, so that the height can be adjusted?
All a spung slatted base does is make your bed feel slightly softer. It doesn't do anything as far as support goes. If you go for a 9" deep mattress then you won't get a good quality one.0 -
Hi Tim,
Thanks for your response. No the headboard doesn't have any form of adjustment on it. I can understand why a deeper mattress would be higher quality but I was thinking the sprung slats would compensate somewhat for the lack of springs within a mattress. It really is just for aesthetic reasons that I want a shallower mattress but I would prefer one that is comfortable to sleep on0
