We have just had a boiling tap thing (sorry for the lack of technicality
) Anyway you puts you teabag in the cup - stick cup under tap and hey presto - no kettle to boil.
Anyway - I have been told they are environmentally friendly as you only ever boil the amount you need, but are they cheaper to run than a kettle?
they are definately convenient and something i would possibly consider if running costs are not to high. I think its called a quooker

If you have a flat bottom kettle with concealed element and can only boil what you need then the kettle will be more efficient. The quooker has a small tank which will add a heatloss to the process. The quooker is also hideously expensive but I can see the appeal of having one.
I have an Ecokettle http://www.ecokettle.com/
EDIT: The quooker also has a standby consumption although minor at 10w is still something a kettle does not have.0 -
Hi mrs motivated,
As this isn't strictly an Old Style question, I have moved your thread over to the Gas and Electric board where you should get more replies.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
They are a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. And if it works great. But aren't their environmentally friendly kettles?0
