I think we all have this
Mine was really noticeable when I was younger (think 8 years old) my mum used to bleach it. Now I wax myself with a Parisa kit I bought in Sainsburys. Yes its red for about 6 hours but I do it on a day when I don't have to go out and do it first thing. Or do it in the evening and then you have all night for the skin to calm down. It even comes with an oil which soothes the skin.
xxxI have realised I will never play the Dane!
Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!!0 -
NEVER EVER EVER USE A RAZOR ON YOIUR FACE AS A WOMAN, THICKER HAIR IS ALL YOU WILL GET BACK IN RETURN AND YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!
i USE BLEACHING CREAM, I REALLY DO THINK YOU SHOULD SPEAK TO THE WOMAN WHO OWNS THE SALON THOUGH THAT IS A DISGRACEFULL WAY TO TREAT SOMEONE AND THE OWNER WOULD WANT TO KNOW, EAPECIALLY IF THEY KNOW YOU ARE A REGULAR!
HOPE YOUR FEELING BETTER0 -
I have painkillers then go for a wax in the evening, over the years, the regrowth has been finer, and sparser.Loving the sunny days!0

Upper lip threading can be really painful if your not used to it, I looked like I had a burn for a couple of days after the first time I tried. One or two of the sensitive facial hair removal cream products may be ok, or try and find a salon that does lycom/hot/chocolate wax, far far better than the usual warm wax with the strips.Snootchie Bootchies!0

I'm having mine electrolysized (Is that a word?) I have faffed about with bleach. depilating creams, wax strips, warm wax with no strips, tweezers, epilators, and razors long enough! The electrolysis is uncomfortable but I keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end. I'm so sorry that woman upset you OP.0

aw, sweetie - please don't let what that woman said get to you. I'm overweight and remember as a teenager (maybr 15?) going to the doctor about an unrelated matter (can't remember what now). He asked me to take my top off, then literally poked my stomach with one finger and said "you do realise you're overweight, don't you?" in a very patronising tone. Most people would have been horrified - my reaction was "duh - and your point is?" lol.
I have PCOS and the excess hair that goes with it and it's not fun, but there are ways of dealing with it. If you find you have redness after waxing/threading, try applying Aloe Vera. It's great for cooling and soothing and can help reduce redness and swelling as well as helping the skin heal.0 -

That's simply not true. Shaving is essentially just cutting the hair but very close to the skin. Shaving CAN NOT alter your hair growth as it has no effect whatsoever on the hair follicle and the hair is never actually "removed", just cut. Yes, it can sometimes make hair appear thicker but that is because it grows back with a blunt tip. Shaving doesn't speed up hair growth either. Any method of hair removal which "cuts" the hair can have the same effect with regards to the bluntness of the hair (e.g. hair removal creams).
If it is really getting you down and affecting your self confidence then go ahead and shave it. I know lots of people that do this, especially on the side of their top lip and none of them have had any problems. If you keep on top of it then you won't need to worry about stubble.
Alternatively, if you do want a more permanent option then you should try laser hair removal. It doesn't work for everyone and is expensive but at the end of the day, your happiness and self esteem is more important than money. I would say it is therefore worth taking the risk for.
With regards to the total bit*h that said this to you, you should DEFINITELY take your complaint higher. How dare she say something like that to you? She shouldn't be working in such a job if she can't keep her stupid mouth shut. She needs to be told or she could make horrible comments to other customers who will also feel as you do now.0 -
I have pale facial skin and dark hair so I can relate to you completely - I remember being taunted and insulted at School which made me really upset and I ran home and robbed my father's razor!! I now use cream for sensitive skins but I have used IPL (laser hair removal in the past) and when I have some spare cash then I will definitely go back for more as I no longer have underarm hair because of the laser so it works! Please ring the salon manager and explain over the phone what happened - she should have stern words with her employee at the very least and I am sure that you are not the only person she has upset with her insensitivity.... just remember that not all people engage their brains before opening their mouths - hugs to you xThank you to all posters - you are fabulous!!! :beer:0

Hi
Don't listen to the silly woman. If you have the money then i would say laser hair removal as it will remove hair and it tends to work better on darker hair. Instead of waxing have you tried sugaring its the similar to wax and it can be made at home(just sugar & water).
In terms of threading most cities offer a one day course for around £65 and teach it to you or you can buy a threading device off ebay for about £10 at the most.
Electroysis is time consuming and can cause small red marks on skin as each hair must be done individually. Have you tried an epilator longer lasting and over time hair does go finer?
Not sure if this is an old wives tale but shaving makes hair thicker and it grows back faster same said for depilatory creams.0 -
How horrible that you had to experience that kind of attitude! Laser hair removal is the only method I've found to be effective. Hair just kept coming back and thicker when I used to shave! It's definitely worth looking into and sk:n are reputable. Did you go in the end? They've just released an offer on their Facebook page too which looks good0
