Claim for cancelled train travel on credit card

Hi

I wonder if someone could help please?

I've booked a trip on Eurostar next week to Paris, where I am getting a connecting train to the centre of France. I've just realised that there is industrial action in France at the moment and my connecting train will probably be cancelled.

Fortuanately (or not!) Eurostar trains are still running, albeit on a slightly restricted service.

I've just checked the conditions of my Eurostar ticket and it says 'Compulsory return. Ticket non-exchangeable, non-refundable'. I'm travelling with family and the ticket was booked by my sister using her credit card. If the connecting train is cancelled would I have a claim on the credit card?

As it's my sister credit card I don't know which card it is, but I just wondered if generally would I be able to claim?

    In a word - No.

The fact that any connecting trains may be cancelled has no bearing on your current tickets on Eurostar (unless the ticket was for Eurostar AND the connecting train)
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

  • Thanks - just I thought.

I can't believe it though, this is a re-arranged trip from April when we had to cancel the trip because of the volcano cancellations! We thought the train would be more reliable......

******* French (I feel I can say that beause I'm half French!) - the awkward, stubborn and argumentative side obviously LOL

It would be the same if it was a train from say London to Birmingham then another onto Liverpool?

The fact it is France is irrelevant

Hi - I have contacted Eurostar about our trip to Avignon via Paris for next week, and they were helpful and said we could rebook another time if more strikes go ahead. We also have non-refundable tickets. I don't know if you could claim on your insurance?

I know it is a real pain - we wanted a quiet getaway for a bit of peace and quiet! I have spent the weekend trying to gaze into a crystal ball to see what will happen - but no luck yet!!!

Hope you manage to sort it out - and if anyone out there knows how this ticket exchange works please let us know.
  • tbh id avoid france like the plague atm, running out of fuel due to strikes, supermarkets short of food due to strikes and transport chaos
