Barclaycard?

Barclaycard are offering one of the best deals I can see for my circumstances at the moment but tbh I am put off by the number of threads slating Barclaycard in here. It seems to come under fire more than any other card.

Is this just because, for example, it's (one of) the most popular therefore comes in for more criticism through sheer numbers? Or am I right to be concerned? Most of the complaints I see could probably apply to any card, although it does worry me that a lot seem to be to do with fraud.

Anyone got a more positive angle?

For the record, I'm looking for a 0% purchases card with a not-too-punishing APR after that period.

thanks.

  • I've had no problems with my Barclaycard over the 12 years I've had it. They've been pretty good at detecting fraud on then account. I've even been contacted a few times by their automated system when unusual activity has occurred to confirm transactions instead of blocking the card straight away, which was nice. You also earn freedom points too , but unfortunately I don't spend the cards at the relevant merchants to have gained any.

I had a Barclaycard about 5 years ago and had it for 3 years prior to that. Never had a problem. Went back to them January last year and have not a bad word to say about them. Good offers, good cards, good rates, good service, excellent online system. Go for it.

There's nothing wrong with Barclaycard, until you have a problem or enquiry to deal with, then you discover that their Executive Team are a bunch of @rseholes who demonstrate their sneering contempt for their customers by inflicting what must be the worst call centres in the world on us.

Their products are pretty decent and on the rare occasions you are lucky enough to deal with their competent and helpful UK call centres it's a a breath of fresh air, like dealing with a completely different company.

Never spoken to India with Barclaycard, and I've rung a fair few times?

lol that's a different topic, but never had a huge problem with 3 either. The trick is to get to 2nd line as quick as possible to get away from Flowchart Syndrome.
