Volunteer Webmaster needed for charity website

I work for a charity called Different Strokes which supports young stroke survivors - you may have heard of us as we were recently short listed for the MSE.com charity of the year, and we were very pleased to get the most votes for a small charity.

We have an established website that was set up for us some time ago, and is currently maintained by a volunteer Webmaster, Hilda, however she now has too many other commitments and has requested that we find someone to take over from her.

Our long term plan is to completely redesign the website, and we are currently in the process of applying for funding from the Lottery to enable us to do that. The funding is expected to cover the rebuild, and ongoing maintenance, however we won’t be able to start work on it for about one year.

In the meantime, we desperately need someone to fill Hilda’s shoes, and we’re looking for someone with the skills and a little time that would like to help a worthwhile cause.

As the website is already established, the volunteer Webmaster will be required to make changes to existing information and add articles or news items occasionally, and it is estimated that this maintenance would take no more than 3-4 hours per week. The message board on the website is moderated by a separate volunteer, so this would not be part of the role.

The person we’re looking for will have a good knowledge of HTML and the ability to maintain consistency throughout the site.

If you’re interested, please send an email to info@differentstrokes.co.uk, to let us know briefly what experience you have of running or maintaining websites.
