I have a 0% Credit Card which I opened 50 weeks ago and with it being advertised as 12 months at 0% interest silly me thought the 0% interest would end exactly 12 months after applying for the card (I kept a note of the date I applied) and that they would only start charging interest after this. No this in not the case: interest is being charged from week 50, because they are using the statement date as the cut off date - I would have thought that should mean they should advertise the card as up to 12 months at 0% as depending on your statement date it may not work out at 12 months. Also I have never received anything in writing advising the date when the 0% period finished - is this normal practice?

It is common practise for lenders to use statement date as a cut off for promotional offers.0
