Hi there
Thhis might seem a stupid question but here goes!!
I've been looking at getting the above while its on offer on software for students. If I were to get it do I have to uninstall the word/excel etc I've already got before I install this or after?! And what happens to the stuff I've got saved in these formats already if I uninstall the old stuff?!
I've currently got word 97 on a laptop and word 2003 on the pc (which it keeps telling me is not genuine:eek:, bought the pc second hand off a friend!) So its definitely time for an update lol.
Hope this makes sense
Thanks in advance x

99.99% sure you can just install over the top and you'll be fine, if you like you can uninstall the old version first, either way installing/uninstalling word etc will have no effect on any documents or items previusly created/saved.
But in any case you do have them all backed up somewhere else along with photos and other important stuff in case your computer hard drive dies don't you?
Finally you could always just go download open office for free and see how you get on with that for a few months and save yourself £30odd

You can install Office 2010 alongside existing Office apps. Because of the dll libraries that get installed alongside the Office software, when installing multiple versions of Office you should always install oldest first to newest last (which is effectively what you are doing as the 2003/97 is pre-installed.
I happily run 97, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007 on my XP Desktop and it's never caused me a problem.
You will be able to read all your existing files in the 2010 software, and can save any current documents in the old formats should you wish.0
