i have seen on few threads,
that one member of a couple is claiming money from esa and dla and the other member is working.
i was under the impression that if you made a claim for a benefit and your partner was working that you wouldnt receive any monies but could get the benefit and other entitlements it comes with like extra support with rent etc
is this true or does it take into other factors.
also i mean as living together.
and working more than 16 hours a week. and more then a joint claim would bring in

For ESA & JSA you can either qualify for Contribution or Income based (or both)
Contribution based is for people who have been employed (not self employed) and paid enough national insurance conts, it ignores your savings and your partners work, lasts for a maximum of 6 months. and is paid at the single person rate. It is possible to claim two seperate contribution based claims at the same time and receive two single person rates.
Income based takes into account the household income and working hours.
Housing benefit/CTB is based on household income.0
