Connecting TV to Video and NTL :)

Hi. Just bought a VCR to go with my TV that has NTL.

How do I connect it up so that I can record NTL or even record terrestial when watching NTL. I understand arial to video, then rf from video to tv. Thats fine. But do i do VCR to NTL AND VCR to TV or NTL to VCR AND NTL to TV etc...

Thanks :)

I have scart between tv and ntl, and 2 extra scart cables for video.

    Try this

    http://www.dtg.org.uk/consumer/connection_wizard.html

It's a connection wizard where you select what equioment you have and it then then shows you how to connect

  • Connected it fine but driving me mental now!!!

I can play video's great on the same av channel as NTL. When I press play video comes on. Fine. When I record though and watch it again its just grey fuzzyness!

Theres no arials connected (just scarts - vcr to ntl to tv) but how do i get it to record whats on the av channel? It wants me to pre set chan's like 01/02/03 and stuff but no AV's!

    *cries*

Have you set the VCR channel to monitor what is coming in from the NTL box.

Connect a temporary co-axial aerial lead from the VCR 'aerial out' to the TV 'aerial in' and turn the TV to the video channel (it's 7 on mine). Now using the VCR remote, flick up through the channels on the VCR (NOT THE TELLY) until you can see the NTL programme that your NTL box is set to.

You should now be able to record straight from the NTL box

    hope this helps
  • It was a REALLY bad VCR so i've now taken it back :)

The VCR change channel thing wouldnt display any channels... but it would change it. (i.e no LED display on vcr and no display would come up)
Just a piece of cheap tac from tesco's

Going to start a new thread on HDD Recorders lol!
