HELP dont understand paperwork from bank

just received my paperwork from the clydesdale bank which i might add they charged me £10 for. but dont understand it, it doesnt contain the original loan/morgage that i took out in 1997 over 25 years, but does have the insurance policy that i paid into which is called FLEXIABLE MORGAGE PLUS WITH CRITICAL ILLNESS COVER WITH NORWICH UNION Problem i have is at the time i took the policy i was working in the private nursing sector and didnt have sick pay but a year and half later i started with the nhs and found that for 6 months they pay full wage and then half wage for 6 months so feel i at that time i didnt need the insurance, also they paid thorugh the superannuation scheme a death benefit if an employee die so didnt need the death benefit either, BUT AS I WAS TOLD THAT I COULDNT GET THE MORGAGE WITH OUT THIS INSURANCE I DIDNT CANCEL IT. problem is i dont know when i finished paying this policy as i have since remorgaged IN 2006 but cannot follow the paperwork its all gobbly gook to me. i still pay death benefit as i lost my brother and felt i need the protection but they didnt inform me that my NHS PENSION would cover this and have been paying for it since then.

what do i do, would it be easier sending the paper work to the financial ombudsmun service and see if they can tell me if i have a claim as they know what they are doing and i dont.

That policy was life assurance with critical illness cover. Not MPPI.
BUT AS I WAS TOLD THAT I COULDNT GET THE MORGAGE WITH OUT THIS INSURANCE I DIDNT CANCEL IT

You wont be able to prove that and there will be no evidence to back you up on that and as its way before general insurance regulation it is highly unlikely any complaint will be successful unless you had no financial need for life assurance or critical illness cover at the point of sale.

No. The FOS is not there to help you go fishing. All they will do is forward the paperwork on to the advising firm for them to look at. The advising firm will promptly reject your complaint as there appears to be no wrong doing.

£10 is the normal charge for an SAR. However, there is absolutely no requirement to do an SAR to make a complaint. It seems to have become a bit of an internet myth as we appear to have many posters doing an SAR or trying to an SAR when there is no need.
